Today’s 100 word story is based on the prompt: “In all the years I’ve lived here, I never once called this place my home.”

I began pacing again.
My fingers trailed in the dust, leaving an intricate pattern that would be sure to confuse.
In all the years I’ve lived here, I never once called this place my home.
My home would be warm and full of laughter. It would be bright with colors: yellows and reds and purples. Artwork and music.
This? This is silence. This is muted tones of grays and white with golden accents. Statuary and dirges.
This is cold marble. Cold like my body within the casket.
I’m always careful not to look at my name on the stone marker.
Now you can check out what the other authors did with this same prompt!

Yikes! I’ve thought about what it would be like to be stuck inside a crypt, but *living* inside one . . . that’s a horrible thought!
